Ekrem Cahit Gocay, whose origin is Albanian, admired Bozcaada 30 years ago and both started viticulture as a hobby and added beauty to this beautiful island. Various grapes, particularly Bozcaada Çavuş grape which is the best grape of Turkey, are grown in Gocay Vineyards that is located on an area of totally 1015 acres as 465 in Ova Mevkii and 550 in Habbele. Gocay Vineyards have taken place worldwide today as an example of scientific viticulture. Apart from viticulture which he engaged in as a hobby, he has been working in Turkish iron steel industry in Karakoy Persembe bazaar for 40 years.
